Phonics and Early Reading

Our phonics and early reading lead is Mrs R Ullah-Critchley.

At Meadow Bank we believe in the power of reading to unlock education and change lives. We aim to support children to learn to read and develop a love of reading. Phonics teaching begins in Nursery.

Learning phonics is all about helping children to match the letter sounds to the letter names. We use a phonics scheme called Little Wandle which is approved by the Department of Education and takes an evidenced-based approach to ensure optimum learning.
